Ce projet explore la création d'une maison pour quatre familles (dans leurs formes les plus diverses) sur un terrain typique de Los Angeles (la parcelle de 50 pieds de large sur 150 pieds de long), en repensant les modes de cohabitation possibles entre résidents aux besoins variés. En imaginant huit types de relations entre les familles, chaque mode de cohabitation génère un espace radicale conçu pour répondre à ces dynamiques, formant ainsi des maisons « cas d'étude". Une compétition est ensuite organisée pour confronter ces propositions et identifier des croisements et hybridations qui permettraient de concevoir un nouveau modèle de cohabitation. L'objectif est de trouver un équilibre où chaque famille gagne quelque chose, tout en faisant des compromis. Ce projet cherche ainsi à déterminer comment un collectif de singularités peut coexister sur un même site en développant de nouvelles typologies d’habitat intermédiaire angelinos.
This project explores the creation of a house for four families (in their most diverse forms) on a typical Los Angeles lot (a 50-foot wide by 150-foot long parcel), rethinking possible modes of cohabitation between residents with varying needs. By imagining eight types of relationships between the families, each mode of cohabitation generates a radical space designed to respond to these dynamics, thus forming "case study" houses. A competition is then organized to confront these proposals and identify intersections and hybridizations that would allow for the design of a new cohabitation model. The goal is to find a balance where each family gains something while also making compromises. In this way, the project seeks to determine how a collective of singularities can coexist on the same site by developing new typologies of intermediate housing for Los Angeles.
